How To Drive Faster:
Driving The Line – What Is It?
The ideal line through a corner is one that results in the fastest lap time around the entire track, and not just the fastest through that one single corner. There are ways to drive through a corner that will get you through it in less time than from driving a different line, but if it doesn’t help what comes after that corner, it often results in a slower overall lap time around the track.
Think about corners and what comes after them. You shouldn’t think of them in isolation. Think about driving a line through a corner in such a way that it lowers your overall lap time. That sometimes means you have to give up something early in the corner to enable you to gain later in the corner and down the following straightaway.
