How To Drive Faster:
“Breathe The Throttle” – What Is It?
You can lift your foot off the throttle – the gas pedal – or you can “breathe” it. The term “breathe the throttle” relates to a gentle easing off of the throttle, rather than a complete and relatively quick lift of it.
You would typically breathe the throttle in corners that don’t require braking, such as a long, fast corner. But it might require an easing up of the throttle, to either reduce speed just a little bit, or to transfer some weight onto the front tires to increase their traction.
I shared more thoughts about the use of the throttle in a video tip about Coasting.
